Riverfire at Riverlife 2012

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

Saturday September 29 – AFL Grand Final Day, NRL Grand Final Eve – what a weekend!

Sydney won in Melbourne, Melbourne won in Sydney and the whole city of Brisbane won with what might be the best Riverfire Festival yet.

Mr Bojangles Entertainment were in the Grand Marquee at Riverlife Function Centre just down from the Story Bridge and right beside the Kangaroo Point abseiling cliffs. It’s also just across the river from the Botanical Gardens and the River Stage where Parklife was in full swing.

There were two screaming jets (F/A18a’s from Amberley), two Blackhawk Army helicopters and two ARH Tiger Army choppers; there were thousands of people of all ages lining the Brisbane River bank; there was one of the best firework displays you’d see anywhere in the world, to the synchronized music of MMM; and there was Mr Bojangles making hundreds of people dance with music from Great Balls of Fire to Gangnam Style.

Thank you Riverfire organizers. Thank you Riverlife Function and Adventure. Thank you people of Brisbane. We WILL be back again next year.

Incidentally – Riverlife is the place to be on New Year’s Eve as well. We’ll do it all again.

Fabulous Weekend

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

What a fabulous weekend for Mr Bojangles Entertainment!  Some of the best parties we’ve been to in a long time.

Friday night was a 60th for Carlos at Forest Lake. An Argentinian theme and so we had to dig deep into that special section of music marked “Latin”.

Carlos’ family and many of the guests were also from Argentina so that Spanish-language music really worked. (Bless you Ricky Martin!) It was a special pleasure to see a roomful of couples dancing the Tango to Julio’s “La Cumparsita”.

Saturday was James’ 21st. It’s only about four months since we played at his girlfriend Cassie’s 21st; about 18 months since we played at Cassie’s mother’s 50th and about 3 years since we met the mother at a wedding at Browns Plains.

James had about 80 guests in the Tamborine back-yard, including a large number of aunts, uncles and cousins, so the requests were many and varied. Great party James! See you when you and Cassie return from Europe.

Sunday night was a wedding at Easts L.C, Coorparoo. Fabulous venue! The bride and many of her guests were from the Philippines. They had a total blast with the dance floor never empty. Congratulations to Albert and Vivian; we were honoured to be a part of your special day.

Now: looking forward to next weekend at the Manly Hotel.

Fabulous Wedding

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

A fabulous wedding on Saturday night at Windaroo Cottage, Beenleigh (all wedding receptions at Windaroo Cottage are fabulous!). Rita and Steve looked to be the perfect bride and groom in a room it’s simply hard to beat for a formal yet friendly reception.

A special touch was provided by the MOB, Robyn, when she handed Paul (our DJ) a CD of South African music to reflect the bride’s heritage. Interesting sounds!

Everyone’s an Music Expert ?

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Three important questions:

  1.   Do you want your guests to dance at your function?
  2.   Do you want your guests to enjoy the music at your function?
  3.   Do you want the music we play at your function to be a major contributor to the total enjoyment of your guests on the night?

We’re guessing that the answer to each of these three questions is “Yes!” Please advise us ASAP if this is not the case.

The Mr Bojangles team have been working in the mobile DJ business for more than 20 years and there has never been such a massive diversity of music as there is these days. And everybody has his own list of favourites. Some people like dance music in its many different forms; some like rock music in its multiplicity; some like easy-listening either in the chill-out way or smooth groove style or anywhere in between; some like hip-hop or rap or ragamuffin; some only want Swing or Heavy Metal or Top 40 or Latin or Punk or Jazz or Reggae or Country or the music of the 90s or the 80s, the 70s, the 60s or before. Everybody’s different!
