Terrific Night

Saturday, August 4th 2012

There are some Queensland businesses which seem to handle their staff a lot better than others. I don’t know the secret but I do know that A E Smith (air conditioning and mechanical services) applies the principles extremely well.

On Saturday night A E Smith held its annual Social Club function and presentation night at the Grand Ballroom, Stamford Plaza Hotel, Brisbane. More than 200 staff and partners attended and as usual the Stamford Plaza food and service were exemplary. Mr Bojangles Discjockey Entertainment provided the atmosphere.

There were speeches. Fortunately they didn’t take a long time and were emceed with wit and skill by Iain Fraser. The dancing commenced early and continued strongly through the night with a hearty mix from Van Morrison to Pitbull. Thanks to the enthusiastic dancefloor contribution from the A E Smith staff. We’re glad you all enjoyed yourself so much.

Our DJ (Bernie) enjoyed himself too, by getting the music mix just right, but something very special happened also: Brian came up early and said he remembered that we had DJ’d his 50th about three years before. And then during dinner Mark and his wife Mandy came over and thanked us for having done such a fabulous job at their wedding approx seven years earlier at the old Wanganui Function Centre. And then Brett Reis and his wife  recognized the Mr Bojangles logo and came to thank us for a wonderful job at their wedding reception twelve years ago!! We had to get a photo so here it is:

Thank you to all our previous customers now working at A E Smith and to all future party planners at the same company. We’re honoured that you remember our service so well and we look forward to your next event.

Fabulous Weekend

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

What a fabulous weekend for Mr Bojangles Entertainment!  Some of the best parties we’ve been to in a long time.

Friday night was a 60th for Carlos at Forest Lake. An Argentinian theme and so we had to dig deep into that special section of music marked “Latin”.

Carlos’ family and many of the guests were also from Argentina so that Spanish-language music really worked. (Bless you Ricky Martin!) It was a special pleasure to see a roomful of couples dancing the Tango to Julio’s “La Cumparsita”.

Saturday was James’ 21st. It’s only about four months since we played at his girlfriend Cassie’s 21st; about 18 months since we played at Cassie’s mother’s 50th and about 3 years since we met the mother at a wedding at Browns Plains.

James had about 80 guests in the Tamborine back-yard, including a large number of aunts, uncles and cousins, so the requests were many and varied. Great party James! See you when you and Cassie return from Europe.

Sunday night was a wedding at Easts L.C, Coorparoo. Fabulous venue! The bride and many of her guests were from the Philippines. They had a total blast with the dance floor never empty. Congratulations to Albert and Vivian; we were honoured to be a part of your special day.

Now: looking forward to next weekend at the Manly Hotel.

A fabulous wedding on Saturday night at Windaroo Cottage, Beenleigh (all wedding receptions at Windaroo Cottage are fabulous!). Rita and Steve looked to be the perfect bride and groom in a room it’s simply hard to beat for a formal yet friendly reception.

A special touch was provided by the MOB, Robyn, when she handed Paul (our DJ) a CD of South African music to reflect the bride’s heritage. Interesting sounds!
